There's a deeply loving, gentle, playful sensibility at the root of the architects of Cypriot architects Angelos and Poly Cleovoulou Savvides. These are homes to which one can become every attached. Both the architects and their work resonate with Cypriot sunshine, humour and zest for life.

This busy studio designs a good number of high rises, hospitals, sports and recreational buildings, schools and universities in Cyprus. Both studied architecture in in Italy with Angelos in Genoa and Poly in Perugia. This classical training and their exposure to Italian architecture and culture is reflected in the fineness of their work from their mastery of form to their very Italianate and sensuous use of color.

This studio is takes a very detailed measure of the usage the home will require which will govern the size shape and placement of the living spaces, the kitchen, bathroom etc. It's all about analysing the needs of the occupant vis a vis their environment in great detail but also in terms of gearing their intuition to the process. They also are keen to make each villa as green as possible. However, it's the singularly inspired and artistic nature of the Savvides' buildings that stands out. There's the same sort of divine playfulness and creativity at work here as one would expect from a Calder mobile or a Miro, Dufy or Keith Haring painting. Few artists can convey joyfulness and contentedness in their work and even fewer architects. Savvides Architects is one such specimen.
